It’s living wage week and ANS is joining in the celebration that recognises the leadership shown by living wage employers.
In 2015, ANS led the way for Cloud and Managed Services Providers in Manchester by being the first to gain accreditation from the Living Wage Foundation. This means we made a voluntary commitment to pay the Living Wage standard.
The Real Living Wage is an independently-calculated rate based on what employees and their families need to live comfortably. It is more than the government minimum to ensure that employees earn a wage that meets the cost of living.
2 members of our People Operations team attend an event held by the Living Wage Foundation in Manchester, where Andy Burnham announced the new rate and speakers including Salford University HR Director, Louise Edwards Holland, shared their thoughts on the importance of the living wage and the positive impact it has had on their organisations.
Each time the standard has increased, ANS has promised to move with it and 2018 is no exception. This week it was announced by the government that the Real Living Wage will increase from £8.75 to £9.00 per hour.
There are 4,700 Living Wage employers in the UK and ANS are proud to be 1 of the 349 in the North West. Organisations have until April 2019 to implement the increase in wage but at ANS we believe our affected employees should benefit immediately, which is why we pledge to pay the increased amount from November onwards.
Even as our ANS family increases year upon year, we are committed to recognising and rewarding our employees for their hard work by ensuring they receive a wage which supports the cost of living.
