You must be reading this blog for a reason, that reason being it’s February and you’ve realised you gave up on your new year’s resolutions in the first week of January. Don’t worry, it happens to the best of us. The good news is there’s still 10 months left of the year to bounce back and make 2019 your best year yet! Here’s our top ANS tips to get those goals back up and running.
Remember your why
The first step is always the hardest but a really good place to start is to remember why you set those goals in the first place. Whatever they are, you obviously wanted to achieve those things for a reason.
So, take a step back and look at the bigger picture, there’s plenty of time left to get going. Find out what gets you out of bed in the morning, set out what you want to achieve, pull out all the stop and go for it!
Make it bite size
If you wrote down your goals, there’s nothing worse than looking at the list as long as your arm and thinking, how on earth am I going to get through that? The trick is to break it down.
Divide your list into bite-sized chunks that you know you can realistically complete in your chosen time frame. When you achieve something, your brain actually releases a chemical that makes you happy. So the best way to keep your motivation levels high is to break down yours into achievable tasks, so that when you complete one you’ll feel great about yourself and ready to tackle the next. It’s all about those little victories along the way that get us closer to our end goal.
Show ‘em what you’re made of
Let others, your friends, colleagues, family know that after slightly falling off the wagon, you’re ready to blow your goals out of the water. With someone else keeping an eye on your progress, you will feel more driven to complete your goals by showing those around you how well you are doing.
Making yourself accountable is a great way to get yourself back on track since there’s nowhere to hide. Plus, having some cheerleaders around you can boost your motivation from 0-100 in no time. But remember, it’s all on you and while we’re on that…
Literally no one else can complete YOUR goals apart from YOU. There’s no magic wand, no magic pill that will turn things around overnight. What you do have is willpower. This is possibly the most powerful tool in your arsenal when it comes to achieving your goals and it’s in all of us. You’ve just got to dig deep. Remember where you were this time last year and think how far you’ve come. Use that energy again to get sh*t done!
